WebHealer supported Samaritans for two years running with their Feel Good Friday campaign. This event was a particularly good fit for WebHealer and WebHealer clients. It was well liked and well supported and over £3,000 was raised for Samaritans. Although Samaritans stopped running the campaign after 2013, work is underway to organise something very similar to take its place. For more details see our Feel Good Friday page. We also have a Webhealer Blog dedicated to this relationship with Samaritans.
Our VAT charity appeal raised funds between December 2008 and January 2010. It began as a result of the temporary VAT reduction during that period from 17.5% to 15%, which meant that our clients' standing orders were paying slightly too much (30 pence/month typically). Without authority to change standing orders directly, we emailed all our clients offering to send adjustment forms but also another option - we would collect all the overpayments into a charity fund and send the total to three selected charities, with a top-up from us (PHD Interactive Ltd which operates WebHealer) adding another 33%.
Despite a very difficult economy throughout 2009, which affected almost everyone, we were delighted that over 90% of responses were in support of this appeal, and we managed to raise £5,794.In addition, our "top up" of client contributions brought the total raised to £7,725. Our selected charities were delighted to receive the funds.
In addition to large events such as this, we have a policy of contributing and providing support on a smaller scale to selected social enterprises such as AVIF.
