UK homeopaths offering homeopathy in England, Scotland and Wales

Established 200 years ago by German physician Samuel Hahneman, homeopathy is a complementary medicine that is based on the principle of similars - like cures like - which means that a substance that can cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms in an unhealthy person. Homeopathy aims to aid and stimulate the body's own defense and immune processes. Homeopathic prescriptions are derived from a variety of plants, animal materials and minerals.

A key element of the preparation of homeopathic prescriptions is dilution to high levels, which has led to challenges about its efficacy by some members of the conventional medical community. Countering this viewpoint, a number of well known UK personalities have come forward to publicly declare their support and belief in homeopathy. One of these is the television presenter Stacey Dooley who took part in the "Homeopathy Works for Me" campaign in 2013, citing her fear of flying and the benefits she gained through a prescription of Gelsemium.

Many homeopaths listed below are members of The Society of Homeopaths, the largest organisation registering professional homeopaths in the UK or The Alliance of Registered Homeopaths or The Homeopathic Medical Association. The British Homeopathic Association (incorporating the Homeopathic Trust) is a national charity which provides information on homeopathy and encourages further development of this natural system of medicine.
